We are really thrilled to be supporting four of our Peterhead Jogscotland girls Sheila Murray, Dawn-anne Beattie, Angela Hastie and Liz McIntosh who will be taking part in the Inverness Half Marathon on Sunday 13th March in aid Maggie's Cancer Centre in Aberdeen. Sheila brother died 20 yrs ago on the 10th March and she is running the Half Marathon in memory of him, and Sheila friends and fellow Jogscotland members Dawn-anne, Angela and Liz have all lost someone close to them through cancer so they decided to train with her and do the half marathon to show support for this wonder charity, and to Sheila at the same time. Every Sunday for months now Sheila, Dawn-anne, Angela and Liz have been training for the Half Marathon, and we know there hard work will pay off. The main campaign to raise money for Maggie's is a partnership between Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, the Press and Journal and the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation, which was set up in memory of Colin Montgomerie's mother, who died from lung cancer in 1991. Read more here Next Wednesday 9th March from approximately 7pm in the Peterhead Football Club upstairs we are having a special Coffee/Tea and Fine pieces in aid of Maggies Cancer Centre to show support to all our girls. Please come along (even if your not a member) and show support to them by making a donation for this great cause. Next Wednesday night Peterhead Jogscotland will also be making a donation of behalf of all our members to this great cause. Its great when oor members send us photographs wearing their Peterhead Jogscotland TShirt when they are away on holiday. Thanks to Jillian Clark for sending us these great photographs when she was onboard the biggest cruise ship in the world the brand new Royal Caribean ALLURE of the SEAS. By the way the ALLURE OF THE SEAS has a longest onboard running track in the world extending 0.7km thats nearly twice as long as Catto Park running track!! If You are off on holiday this year remember and take your Peterhead Jogscotland TShirt you never know you may win a prize at our AGM
We have some really talented Junior Runners in our club none more so than James Weir. James has been taking part in the Running Shop Winter X Cross Country Series for under 15s. At Knockburn in November James was second, and at Haddo House in January James was fourth in an amazing time of just under 20 mins for a 5km. The last race in the series take place at Balgownie Park in Aberdeen on Sunday 27th February. Also taking part that day will be Shelley Duncan, Shelley like James is a real star in the making, and we are proud of them, and all our juniors/youngsters at Peterhead Jogscotland. At Balgownie Park on 27th Feb there is also an adult 1 mile, 3 mile and 6 mile race. To see details of these event simply click here it would be great if we had a good turn to support both James and Shelley and all other members taking part that day.
